About Bayit Shelanu - Our House

BAYIT SHELANU, Hebrew for "Our House",  was forged to reach out to the many unaffiliated Jews and members of the community in search of a Rosh Hashanah/Yom Kippur experience that speaks to the heart, mind, spirit and soul. It is our goal with our innovative High Holy Day services to inspire Jews to get involved in Judaism once again or to connect to it for the first time! Drawing on the richness of all denominations, we place an emphasis on the spiritual and the celebratory. Judaism provides a joyous opportunity toadd meaning to our lives. It also challenges us to be active in tikkun olam, in repairing the world by living and participating fully in it.  Our services reflect that joy and meaning in the power of its prayers, inspirational readings, and the celebration of song.
Services are open to all, especially those not affiliated, who wish to reconnect or learn more about their Judaism, any and all who wish to celebrate a common humanity and the Jewish way of life. Bayit Shelanu will meet on the High Holy Days in the Ackerman Grand Ballroom located at the center of the beautiful UCLA campus. We are not in any way a part of the University but feel fortunate to have facilities in such an accessible, central, and lovely setting.
