Shalom friends,
For our second year, back by popular demand as they say, we are happy to be back. Bayit Shelanu is a shul created as an exciting new venue for High Holy Day Services, reaching out to the unaffiliated Jews of Los Angeles as well as to those seeking a meaningful and empowering experience to begin the Jewish New Year. Once again we will hold services on the beautiful and accessible campus of UCLA. I am thrilled we will be joined again by the widely celebrated Jewish composer and performer, Debbie Friedman. I have been deeply moved the many people who attended last year and spoke of the highlights that moved them like no other time in their lives: the unrolling of the Torah around the entire congregation, the intimacy of Debbie's music, the added musicality of Bruce Garnitz and the contemporary spirit of the Reconstructionist prayer book (OK and yes, even the sermons which I am for the heart while teaching something new about Judsiam's approach to the modern world.)
I look forward to your joining us to greet the New Year of 5769 with the rich experience of moving music, meaningful prayer, and empowering words as we embrace the promise and posssibilities of the Holy Days.
Shana Tovah,
Jan
